Adventures in Cookie Construction

We had grand plans for our gingerbread house. Inspired by the back of the box which had pictures like this:

I was sure that we would easily be able to surpass these examples and create something even better. We even mixed extra icing. Surely it would be great. We would make carefully constructed roof decorations of squiggly swirly beauty. Artfully applied icicles. A gated yard of licorice, candy, and icing snow drifts.

It is at this point which I would like to remind you that this gingerbread house was made by three adults, one of which has an art degree.

And things did not go exactly as planned.

The icing was not quite thick enough so.. we basically couldn't do anything with it. We decided to work with what we had, and change design intentions.




Actually I guess it turned out pretty good.
