If you want a detailed description of all the characters, you can check out my deviantart post. It was too much text to cram into here, heh.

Happy thursday!

Films

I keep meaning to post my VFS films to the blog, but I never remember when I'm actually at the computer. Well, except for today. So here they are! Some of you have seen these already, but I figured it would be good to have them here as well as linked through my webpage.

The Bear King - Classical Film

This was my main student film. I spent about four months working on it, start to finish. It was hand drawn in pencil and then inked with pen & ink, and colored on the computer with Toonboom Harmony. The backgrounds were all done in Photoshop. The story is something I've been working with on and off for a few years now, did a few projects with it at ACAD. I really wanted to use it for my film, even though its such a large story... there wasn't really just one bit of it I could pick and make into a 1 minute film. So I picked... a bunch of things, and just tried to get across the mood and the feeling of the whole story.

Sparks - Flash Film

This was my flash film. We had... about four weeks (!) to learn Flash and make a short film. It was very frustrating at first... but by the end, I was feeling pretty happy with it. I did the sound for this one myself, which was also interesting and actually pretty fun.

VFS was a good school, and I learned a lot from being there. Both from the people around me, and the curriculum itself. Making a film is very time consuming and challenging, but I learned so much from the process, that it was worth every second.

To end with, here are some felines in footware.

I forget if I wanted to say something else.

Oh well!

Sketches of Panya. Still feeling out her design. Decided to draw squished baby versions of her too, for fun.

Kessa the paladin, Ammon the bard, and the "magic room". It goes up and down, how cool is that!

And that's all for today. G'night everybody.

Uncertainty and bees.

Mudkip lacks confidence in the future. And butterflies.

Also, here is a rainbow bee. Rainbow bees are well known for the happiness-field that they radiate at all times. It is impossible to be morose when in the presence of a rainbow bee. They are about the size of a walnut, warm to the touch, and their buzz sounds remarkably like a purr.

The Most Fantastic Team in the Universe

The unicorn is really a being of pure light. By which I mean, its horn is a LASER and it can tread the space between galaxies with a single instantaneous step. Only the most rugged intergalactic soldiers can handle their levels of pure awesome.

This is Pancake. He goes on adventures.

So I've been trying to remember to leave my cellphone on. My default is that I turn it off unless I need to call somebody. But maybe people want to call -me-! So far it's mostly been computerized voices telling me I may or may not have one a trip to Mexico, or people looking for someone else who probably had my number before me. The other day:

Me: Hello?
Lady: Yes, is Kris there.
Me: Speaking! :)
Lady: No, I'm looking for Kris.
Me: Yes, that's me.
Lady: ...Christopher ____?
Me: Oh. No, this is Kristin Rakochy. I'm not sure who you're looking for, but this is my number. Sorry!

Yay cellphones.

Sigdis Wolfbiter

Sigdis is the best-loved child of a middle-rank Thegn, surely destined for honor and riches. When she came of age, she immediately set out with a raiding party, eager to earn the glory she had always known were her due.

Unfortunately, destiny has other plans, and her very first foray outside of her homeland ends in disaster. Due to some critical failure or betrayal, the raiders are expected, ambushed, and slaughtered by their intended victims. Few survive. Sigdis is captured by the enemy, clapped in irons, and marked as a slave. Having failed to die gloriously in battle, she is honor-bound to accept whatever terms her enemies set, so she takes this as both necessary and fair. She has brought dishonor to her family, and the lost lives of the rest of the raiding party are on her head.

She intends to serve her sentence until she finds death in a worthwhile battle, or manages to gather enough treasure/esteem to rebuild her family's honor and repay the wergild of the raiding party.
